When it comes to dressing warmly in the winter, my style is quite straightforward. With the exception of a few dresses or skirts, my signature winter style consists of over-the-knee boots, a cozy classic sweater, and jeans. While living in England automatically opens the door to owning an assortment of coats, my recent trip to Austria introduced me to my new favorite luxe outer layer — The Winter Cape.
As soon as I slipped into this elegant winter cape, I instantly fell in love. From its chic gray color scheme to its warm wool blend fabric, it’s a staple I truly never considered needing, but after one look I knew I couldn’t live without. My biggest concern with capes was that while beautiful, they might not be warm enough for true winter temps. After strolling down the crisp streets of London and wearing this to an evening Christmas carol service, I proved myself wrong. I even packed an extra layer just in case I was cold, but to my surprise, I didn’t need it. Styled with a turtleneck sweater underneath and my signature denim jeans and OTK boots, a poncho was just enough, not to mention it completely transformed and elevated my everyday look!
On crisper days you can, of course, layer a thicker base layer underneath or dress it up with pants or heels for a dressy, winter night out. All in all, it’s certainly a splurge-worthy staple that will instantly amplify your everyday winter wardrobe. I’ve already worn mine a handful of times since I’ve purchased it, and am really looking forward to wearing it for years to come! If you’re looking for a way to liven up your winter basics, I’ve linked lots of winter capes and ponchos below from ultra luxe, to street style, to casual/every day — many of which are on major sale!
