Like much of the east coast, it was a hot one here in D.C. this past weekend. With the "feel like" temperature at 107 degrees by Saturday afternoon, it was like walking into a brick wall every time walking outside. Even though we shot these pictures super early, it was brutal! But, it is summer in D.C. and I guess you have to just embrace it! And I can’t think of a better way to embrace these summer temperatures than with the perfect summer dress under $30.
Summer Dress Under $30
As I have mentioned before, dresses are my thing. Each season, I am always on the hunt to add a few new dresses to my closet. But this spring and summer, I had a difficult time finding dresses that would fit. I don’t know if brands are making things shorter or what, but the hemlines keep going up. And I’m only 5’8! I have come to terms with the fact that I probably need to stick with midi or maxi dresses.
While I was doing my weekly browsing on Amazon, I came across this green dress. The green color was the first thing that I fell in love with. So bright and fresh for summer! At first I was hesitant to order a dress from Amazon. It was my first time ordering clothing and had no idea about the fit or sizing. And then I saw it was one size fits all! I thought to myself, how is that even possible?! But, I read through some of the reviews and thought why not give it a try. I must have been feeling super adventurous because this is totally uncharacteristic of me!
Much to my shock, the sizing is perfect! For reference, I’m 5’8 and usually a size M or 6/8. I know I probably won’t be this lucky every time I order clothing from Amazon, but it gives me a little confidence in future purchases.
Dress Color and Accessories
I fell in love with this green color, but the dress is also available in 10 other colors! This makes it the perfect dress to wear to a wedding, date night or on vacation. I paired this summer dress under $30 with my go-to gold summer sandals and other gold accessories. I finished this look with my new favorite sunglasses. My mom calls them my "movie star" sunglasses and she is kind of right. Meghan Markle aka The Duchess of Sussex wore these in New York City when visiting for her baby shower a few months ago. They were nearly impossible to find right after she was spotted in them, but they have been restocked. You can shop them here.
