Hey, hey, hey y’all! I am so happy to be back after a short two-day break from Lonestar Southern. As some of you may have seen on Instagram (you can follow me here) I took the holiday weekend to go visit one of my very best friends since high school, Kelly! She moved to Chicago for an amazing job in advertising after graduation, and this was the first time I got to visit her in her city. Needless to say, we had the best weekend of long-overdue catchups, lots of eating (hello deep dish pizza…), a SoulCycle class, shopping on Michigan Avenue, boat tours, tv marathons and more!
I’m feeling so refreshed after that little bit of time away (it’s crazy what some good old girl time can do for ya) and am thrilled to be back to chat about the beginning of… you guessed it… fall! It’s one of my favorite times of the year, and the cozy, classic fashion autumn is characterized by is one of the main reasons why.
While in Chicago, I got a little sneak peek of fall weather this weekend (it got down to the high fifties) and it was glorious! I even snatched up this jacket from J.Crew to cozy up a bit. But now that I’m back down south, I’m in the same boat with so many of you… how to start dressing for fall when it’s still stiflingly hot outside?
Today, I’m sharing one of my easy, go-to formulas for adding fall fashion into your ensemble. Here it is, friends… pairing long sleeved, fall tops with a perfect pair of denim cutoffs!
Creating this look is as simple as it sounds, and always turns out oh-so cute. I found a great pair of high-waisted cutoff shorts a few years back that I wear year after year. (While the exact wash is no longer available, you’ll find the same style here!) Adding crisp, white long-sleeved blouses, like the one I’m wearing above, or lightweight sweaters, tied together with a chic belt creates an effortless look that’s perfect for transitioning from summer to fall.
I can’t wait to swap out the shorts and sandals for jeans and riding boots, but am loving this look for now!
Love from Texas,
Kate
