NYFW S/S 2022: Days 1&2 Recap

Kate Spade Spring 2018 Presentation
Tadashi Shoji SS 2018 Runway
Happy Fashion Month, friends! A few weeks ago, I swung up to New York for fashion week and awed over some of the most stunning designs of my life, attended a lot of great events, met some amazing PR people, and saw some of my blogger friends from across the country. It’s always a crazy, hectic experience, but I loved every minute of it!
This year, I was a little more selective about the shows that I went to. It’s super tempting to want to go to every single little thing during NYFW, but I took breaks when needed and only went to shows that I loved. My first recap of NYFW will give you a peek inside days 1 + 2 of this busy week!
Tadashi Shoji
So I attempted to go to Noon by Noor right before Tadashi (another show I love) but unfortunately, I missed it, so my first show of day one was Tadashi Shoji. The one thing that was striking about this collection was all of the floral prints. I know, florals for spring: groundbreaking. However, this collection was boho-chic perfection, and filled with striking embellishments, off the shoulder silhouettes, and the most intricate cut outs. The S/S 2018 collection was right up my alley, and all I want to do is head to a beach in one of these vibrant, flowy maxis.

What I Wore + Other Events
I was decked out in Rent the Runway for the second day (I wore an old outfit on the first day that I’ve already photographed on the blog before), and this outfit was totally my vibe. I had a long day of shows, meetings, and events on Friday and I didn’t have time to run back to my hotel and change, so I wanted to wear an outfit that would go from day to night with ease. I rented this bag but I think I just need to buy it because I was obsessed, and I might rewear this pretty plum dress for a wedding in late fall coming up. The ruffle detail was incredible!
That evening I went to an amazing Women’s Wear Daily x Samsung Event held at the Samsung flagship store in Meatpacking — it was so cool to see their theater up close, and I was in awe at the space!

As much as I love spotting gorgeous gowns come down the runway, it was refreshing to head over to Kate Spade, a designer I wear often and adore, and check out what’s new for spring. The presentation, which was located in Grand Central, had a New Orleans theme (which I obviously loved); there were oysters, a marching band and plenty of small little Creole details that made this presentation one of a kind. The collection was a little more relaxed than previous seasons, and it was a beautiful mashup of athleticwear and prim and proper floral dresses. I will definitely try to add in some track jackets next spring to give my super feminine wardrobe a bit more edge!
Overall Trends I Spotted from Day 1&2
From the shows: off the shoulder isn’t dying anytime soon, so make sure to keep those OTS dresses and tops for next season. Embellishments and florals were also king on the runway, and I would highly recommend picking up an embellished/floral accessory of some sort next spring just to shake things up (because lord knows how many floral dresses I already own!)
From the streets? I couldn’t tell you how many editors and bloggers I saw wearing white ankle booties. I’m pretty sure I’m going to pick these bad boys up, because I predict this trend is going to be hot this fall. I also saw a lot of chic matching suits in vibrant colors. This houndstooth suit would be a super chic piece to wear both at work and out and about.
Stay tuned for recaps of Days 3, 4, and 5!
