My Weekend To-Do List

After I started working, I finally understood why people said that Fridays are their favorites days – the weekend is my safe haven time to do ANYTHING I could possibly want to do. But to be honest, most of the time I just end up laying around catching up on Youtube videos and/or drama series or my favorite pastime, napping. I have been a lot better recently on planning out things to do for the weekend in advance so I don’t get TOO lazy. For the weekend, there are usually concrete tasks that I have to get done or else they never will. This is my static weekend to-do list that happens more or less every weekend:

Head to the Gym

I constantly give the excuse of "I don’t have time" or "I am too tired" to avoid going to the gym during the week. But none of that on the weekend! I have worked it into my weekend routine to head to the gym at least one of the days to get a really good workout in – one that has me seriously exhausted at the end. I place so much importance onto this because even if I don’t end up doing anything else for the day, I can still feel accomplished. Plus, it takes 1.5 hours max to do it from finish to end.

Creating Content

The weekend is the best time for me to catch up on content creation. It could mean packing a million outfits into a little bag and dragging Alex outside to help me take pictures to just sitting down and cranking out blog posts for the week. As you know, I made a promise to myself for 2019 to create a blog post a day. It has been HARD! Sometimes the motivation just isn’t in me and sometimes I feel like I’ve said all that I could! Thus this time is crucial for me to really hone in and brainstorm what I want to create for the following week. Content creation takes A LOT of time: brainstorming of ideas, taking the photos, writing the post, editing the photos, creating graphics, pinning, instagramming, editing the post, putting it all together, and repeat!

Creating a Special Home-Cooked Meal

This has to be my FAVORITE during the weekend! Alex and I always decide on one thing to make during the weekends, whether it is making pizza from scratch (Alex is a wizard with anything flour) or creating our new favorite, ziti! I have to be honest and say that Alex does do most of the work…BUT I do attempt to help! Throughout the week we eat almost the same things and our lunches usually composes of what we had for dinner the previous night. So this is our way to step out of the bubble and try something new!

Cleaning my Space

Honestly, just call me LAME-O at this point. I mean, who wants to clean in our free time and supposedly relaxing time, right? But it’s so important to keep our living spaces clean. Beyond having a physically cleaner space, it also can also help foster creativity. You can read a post on areas of your life that you can organize HERE.
During the weekend, I like to try and clean all that I can. Starting with the visible spots at the apartment such as clothes laying around, shoes that need to be put back into their cubbies, sweeping all the hair covering the floor, wiping down all the grime collected throughout the week and so forth. If I feel extra motivated during a certain weekend, I will lug my laundry basket down to the laundry room…but that really depends on how much clothes I have left to wear lol. And after I put away everything where they belong and make my apartment semi-resemble a museum, I go and organize non-tangle things such as my computer desktop, phone and journal.

Call my Parents

I call home preeettttyyy often during the week but those calls are usually fast and just to update my parents of little tidbits happening in my life. I like to allocate at least an hour or so on the weekends to call home and really talk to my parents and see how they are doing. These are my favorites times because I get to unload all of everything that’s bothering me and my parents are the most encouraging people ever!

Study

The weekends are like a gold mine of time for my when it comes to studying. There simply isn’t enough time during the week to really hone in and study as much as I want. So I save a lot of my more intense studying areas for the weekend where I am able to dedicate a lot of time to it. Sometimes I am able to study at home, but most of the time, I am at a cafe where I find it easier to focus and be in the "zone".
The weekend always go by too fast and I’m back to my high school days of wishing for 3-day weekends. In between all of these tasks, I like to make sure Alex and I spend quality time together by either doing an activity together or just going outside and taking a walk. The two days are sanctuaries for me when I am not doing anything else – it allows me to fully relax, catch up with things I don’t have time for during the week and reset for the new week ahead.
