Did anyone else get FOMO after seeing all of the fun in Palm Springs this weekend?
A few years ago, my friends would call me the music festival queen. I would go to about 4-6 festivals a year and travel the country for it. So far, I’ve gone to Coachella, Governor’s Ball, Austin City Limits, Lollapalooza, and Landmark Festival (RIP), just to name a few.
I’ve slowed down on the festivals a bit mainly because my knees don’t function like they used to (gotta love getting old!), but I still try to go to at least one festival a year. Here is my music festival checklist including a few things that I’ll always pack with me!
Music Festival Checklist: 6 Essentials You Should Not Forget
On average, I walk about 8-12 miles/day when I’m at a music festival. You’re going to want to wear the comfiest pairs of shoes you own, my friends! I’d also recommend closed-toed shoes because someone will inevitably step on your foot at some point during the day.
For me, my comfiest shoes include my trusty white sneakers and my ankle boots with a very short heel. I definitely wouldn’t "break in" any shoes either at a festival — you’re in for a world of pain if you choose to do so!
The Proper Hair Care
One reason why I love festivals? It’s a great time to experiment with different hairstyles and try out something new (and bold!) However, between all the teasing, the product, and the accessories you’ll be putting in your hair every single day for a festival, your mane will probably need a little pick me up once the festival is over!
A product I’d recommend after a long festival weekend? The Pantene Pro-V Intense Rescue Shots. You can use this product weekly in place of your regular conditioner to repair damaged hair. What I love about this product is that it provides a deep condition, but rinses off instantly — no need to wait around for a hair mask to soak in! You leave it in for 30 seconds, and then rinse it out for 30 seconds. Perfect for the girl on the go, it’s no wonder these Pantene Pro-V Intense Rescue Shots are the #1 selling new treatment in the haircare category!
Go crazy with your festival hair this year: add some temporary dye, add glitter, braid it, hairspray it. No matter how wild you are with your festival hair this season, you are in good hands! Pantene is the official haircare sponsor for Coachella, Stagecoach and Firefly but whatever festival you attend, Pantene’s got you covered!
Hats & Hair Accessories
Speaking of going wild with the hair — now is the time to play around with fun hats and hair accessories! 2019 seems to be the year of hair clips and barrettes, and you can add as many of them to your hair as you’d like. The flower crown is also always a festival classic. I always like to bring a wide-brim hat with me to festivals just in case I’m having a bad hair day — hats also are great if it rains unexpectedly at a festival!
My very first Coachella, I thought I could count on the charging stations around the festival to juice up my phone. Problem was, the charging stations aren’t super close to the stages. Or the food. Or anywhere you’d want to be.
You’re going to want to take a ton of photos/videos/Boomerangs during a festival, so make sure to keep a battery pack with you at all times to keep your phone juiced up (no matter how many Instagram Stories you post during the day!)
A Good Sunscreen
Admittedly, I’ve been bad about wearing sunscreen in the past (I’ve never had a sunburn), but over the last few years, it has become part of my daily routine. At festivals, you’ll be standing around in the sun for hours, and you’ll want to protect your skin! I like to bring a travel-sized bottle for my body, and a setting mist with SPF for my face (you’ll be thankful for any sort of mist in the heat!)
