For today’s installment of ‘My Perfect Day in NYC,’ I’m so excited to have Meghan from the Wit & Whimsy. I met Meghan, who now resides in Brooklyn Heights, years ago. It was when Instagram wasn’t even a thing and we solely just focused on our blogs! Till this day, Wit & Whimsy is one of the best blogs out there offering everything from detailed guides to Paris to diving into conversations like acupuncture and a wide variety of really honest and beautifully written, personal posts (like being single in your 30’s and dealing with insecurities as a blogger).
Meghan Donovan’s Perfect Day In NYC
I’m an early riser and I love taking advantage of my neighborhood, Brooklyn Heights, before the rest of the city awakens. I’ll walk the Brooklyn Heights Promenade down to Dumbo, then back along the Brooklyn Bridge Park waterfront. It’s the perfect loop and offers sweeping views of Manhattan.
For me, a perfect day in New York always includes a visit to Central Park. I’d head uptown and pop into Ralph’s Coffee to get a caffeine companion for my walk. In the park, I love visiting the Bethesda Fountain, The Mall, The Bow Bridge and enjoy having a glass of wine at The Boathouse.
When uptown, I always love to visit The Met & sit in the Impressionist Wing. It never gets old to me! And no trip to the UES is complete without stopping by Levain Bakery for a chocolate peanut butter chip cookie – they’re the best! I love their Upper West Side locations but am so happy they just opened one in the Upper East Side as well!
For a little R&R, I’d head to my favorite indulgence in NYC which is an afternoon spent at the Shibui Spa at The Greenwich Hotel. It is the ultimate spa to unwind, relax, take a swim, have a steam and get a massage. It is divine!
At the end of my perfect day, dinner would be pasta and cocktails at one of my favorite restaurants – either Carbone, Lilia or L’artusi. All are so delicious and such special dining experiences. A nightcap at Belmelmans would be the finishing touch to my perfect day in NYC. It’s a classic establishment that harkens back to many decades ago in the city. A time I would have loved to experience!
