Hi, friends! I’ve missed you. I took an unintentional blogging break last week, and you know what? I needed it. I think that with today’s society, we’re so used to always being “on.” And for many of us who wear multiple hats, that gets to be quick exhausting (looking at you, working moms and side hustlers). It important to listen to our bodies and take breaks.

As many of y’all know, I juggle many things. I work full-time as an in-house attorney. I’m also a mom to two kids, ages 7 and almost 3. And I’m a blogger/content creator. Oh, and for good measure, we’re in the middle of a pandemic where nothing has been normal for almost a full year. . .can you feel me??? Yea, I thought so.
We live in a culture where it’s typical to keep pushing ourselves, and to see rest as a bad thing. Listen up–“not being productive” is sometimes productive in itself, because it gives our bodies and minds time to rest and recharge. If you’re always draining yourself dry, you have to fill yourself back up with those things that give you joy and inspire you. It’s time to normalize taking breaks.
I am often at the top of my game after taking a break. I have fresh ideas, new approaches to problem solving, and am more creative across the board. Taking a break is not a bad thing. So while last week’s break was unintentional, it was needed. I was feeling burned out and uninspired.
After my break, and the mountain of snow and ice we got last week, I’m feeling energized for spring and “what’s next.” I am so happy to be changing up my wardrobe and my perspective. Here’s to pastels for spring, lighter fabric, and straight crop jeans. Add a nude bag and nude shoes, and you’re good to go:)
Hope your week is off to a good start!
