Have a French Girl Summer in the Rouje Cassandre Dress

Have a French Girl Summer in the Rouje Cassandre Dress

Opps – I did it again! (sort of). I bought ANOTHER Rouje Dress. Although, this time it’s not the Gabin dress! I thought I’d switch it up a little and go with the Cassandre Dress to create a French Girl Summer outfit.

Obviously, I’m not in France right now. But wearing the Rouje Cassandre dress with my Sézane bag and espadrilles helps me to feel like I’m having a French Girl Summer. What is a French Girl Summer? It’s sipping a glass of wine at a cafe with un-done hair with effortless makeup. It’s checking out the local farmer’s market with a straw bag in tow. And when I want to dress the part of the French Girl I always turn to Rouje and Sézane.

Rouje Cassandre Dress Review

You guys know I’m a HUGE fan of the Rouje Gabin dress. So I thought it was time to try another dress style from Rouje. The Cassandre dress is another popular style that comes in several prints and is made from 100% viscose. I picked this floral print because it’s one of their iconic prints and I think it’s so pretty. It has spaghetti straps that are adjustable with the ties in the front. The bodice is smocked and there is a side zipper.

Size + Fit

My measurements: 33-27.5-37, 32D, 5’8″, 115lbs

I’m wearing size 38 and I think it’s a good fit for me. I probably could have fit in the size 36 because the waist is smocked and stretches quite a bit – but I prefer a slightly looser fit in Rouje dresses. I’ve noticed that the viscose fabric shrinks a little bit and I didn’t want this dress to be too tight around my hips.

The straps are adjustable by pulling the front ties tighter. The top is slightly big on me so I’ve pulled the ties together quite a lot – which in turns pulls the dress up a little higher I think. I also think this is a dress that’s best with a strapless bra. I am wearing a bra in these photos but you can see it pretty easily because the dress straps don’t really line up with my bra straps.

How to Get that French-Girl Look

As I mentioned above, I’ve accessorized my look with other French fashion brands! My cardigan is from Musier Paris. I think the pearl button detail is so pretty! Sadly, I got this cardigan a couple years ago and the cream version is no longer available. But Musier is a great brand to check out if you want “sexier” French designs. This cardigan can also be worn as a top with a cute skirt and heels!

A woven straw bag is an essential French Girl accessory. This woven bag has been my everyday bag this summer. I love the leather straps and the scallop design on the bag. Sézane makes other cute woven bags – if you are looking for one with a closed top then check out the Farrow Bag.

And of course, a cute ‘French Girl Summer’ look isn’t complete without espadrilles! Espadrilles are a great way to dress up a look and give you some extra height without looking too dressy. Espadrilles can be worn casually during the day but also at night with all your sexy summer dresses. I love my espadrilles from Sézane! The woven upper is very comfortable on my toes and the heel height is perfect. These also come in other colors!
